Mudgee Sunrise Rotarians – participate, celebrate, donate
Mudgee Scouts were the recipients of a donation for the purchase of a specialised backpack and equipment to support them on overnight hikes. Troop leader Liz Saunders demonstated the equipment at a recent breakfast and expressed the Troop’s thanks.
A very successful District 7670 Conference, held at Warren, was well attended by Mudgee Sunrise members. Our accommodation at the beautiful Raby Station was a real treat and members were impressed with the hospitality and great organisation of the hosting Rotary Club of Warren.
Charter member Rob Thomas celebrated a very special “0″ brthday recently. While Rob is no longer an active member of the club, he and wife, Margaret accepted our invitation to breakfast and was surprised with a special cake.

Mudgee develops young golfers
At a recent Rotary meeting Mudgee Golf Club Pro, Peter Mayson spoke about the Club’s plans and programmes to support and develop young golfers. Despite the loss of the club house and the re-organisation that has resulted from it, activity at the course has not stopped, and the junior program is testament to this. Both Peter and Sharon Nott run coaching clinics which are well attended and teach young people the techniques, rules and ethics of golf. As part of our committment to young people in our community, Mudgee Sunrise is considering ways to support participants of the 3 month development squad. Stay tuned for further information.
Travellers visit Rotary Club of Lindsay, Ontario
Mudgee Sunrise member Sandy Smith is travelling in Canada and recently paid a visit to former Mudgee Guardian editor, Lisa Gervais in Lindsay, Ontario. The Rotary Club of Lindsay is in D7010, so Sandy took the opportunity to do a make-up and listen to a guest speaking about funding a school project in Tibet.

Rotary greetings from Lake Placid
Sandy Smith emailed this photo from her visit to Rotary Club of Lake Placid in D7040 which covers Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Northern New York State. Rotary make-ups are a great way to meet the locals and to see the work that Rotarians do in their communities.
Visit the Rotary Club of Lake Placid Facebook page to see their involvement in the local community, especially the Duck Race.

Melbourne Cup fundraiser….. win $1000
November 1st is Melbourne Cup Day, a big day for punters and an important fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise. Sales of our $2.00 boxed trifecta sweepstake tickets give us funds for local projects and the buyers an chance to win $1000.00.
How does a boxed trifecta work? Each ticket has three numbers between 1-24. If those numbers correspond to the first three placed horses in the Melbourne Cup, in any order, that ticket wins. Simply call our Secretary, Carol Southgate on the phone numbers indicated on the ticket to verify the win.
Club members will sell tickets at various venues in the weeks leading up to the big race. Look for us in the workplace and outside St George Bank!
Our thanks to Rob Duffy and the staff at Image Signs for producing and donating two stand-out signs for us.

Several months ago, Rotary Club of Mudgee Sunrise made a committment to support the development of a community garden in a vacant area in the CBD. This initiative of the mental health team provides opportunities for clients to develop garden beds, grow fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs and learn nutritious ways to prepare the results of their labour.
