Anne Riechert selected as a World Peace Fellow

Anne Riechert

Anne Riechert - Rotary World Peace Fellow

Exciting news was received today that Anne Riechert (Youth exchange student 1999-2000 from Norway and hosted by our club) has been selected as a recipient of a Rotary Peace Fellowship to attend the Rotary Center at International Christian University, Tokyo from 2010-2012.

“The Rotary World Peace Fellows are selected every year in a globally competitive process that begins when they apply through their local Rotary clubs. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to peace and international understanding through their personal, academic and professional achievements. On selection they study peacemaking and conflict resolution at the six Rotary Centers for International Studies located at leading universities in England, Japan, Australia, Argentina, and the United States” (from the RI website).

This is a well deserved honour for Anne who has already demonstrated her committment to peace and international understanding through her project “We have a Dream” and the work she has done with Nkosi’s Haven, aa centre for HIV/AIDS affected mothers and children.

We look forward to congratulating Anne personally when she visits Mudgee in December.
